Stellar PV has completed a pre-feasibility study, supported for the Australian Renewable Energy Agency (ARENA), to assess the industry context and feasibility of establishing a silicon ingot-pulling and wafering facility in Australia.
The study examines global and domestic solar supply-chain dynamics, Australia’s strategic advantages, and the technical, operational, and commercial requirements for deploying this critical mid-stream manufacturing capability at scale.
The report finds that Australia is well positioned to support a competitive pulling and wafering facility, strengthening domestic solar manufacturing capability while contributing to supply-chain resilience, regional economic development, and export opportunities.
It provides a foundation for progressing Project Clean Wafers into the next phase of development and informs broader policy and industry discussions on Australia’s role in the global solar value chain.
