Building Solar Panels with Stellar PV Wafers
Stellar PV’s solar wafer manufacturing facility will play a pivotal role in the evolving Australia solar panel ecosystem, since building high quality solar panels requires a complex and precise value chain — as shown below.

Here’s how we create the wafers our customers need to build industry-leading solar panelS
To create the ingots needed to develop our wafers, we source semiconductor-grade silicon which is the purest form of silicon. It’s produced in a Siemens process and is integral to optimising the energy conversion efficiency of solar panels.
Next, we melt the polysilicon and pull it into cylindrical, rectangular mono-crystalline ingots, customised for maximum solar panel efficiency.
To create our wafers, we slice the ingots into thin wafers, typically 150 to 200 microns thick.
Our process is extremely precise so as to optimise the materials used as well as the electrical performance of the final product.
The end result is Stellar PV’s best-in-class solar wafers, which are sold to our customers who use them to be build high quality solar cells, the functional units that convert sunlight into electricity.
In turn, our customers use our solar wafers to form solar cells by doping the wafers with materials to form a p-n junction, applying anti-reflective coatings and adding electrical contacts.
Each solar cell is tested to ensure high performance and durability before they are assembled into solar panels. During this process, the solar cells are connected in series and encapsulated in protective materials and glass with aluminium frames to form solar panels.
